Incidence of Shoulder Injuries

The exact incidence of shoulder injuries varies with individual sports and level of participation and competition. For instance, an incidence of 42% to 67% of competitive swimmers reported having some shoulder problems sometime during their careers. In Hong Kong, a survey of 1,714 university students for sports injuries indicated that 15% had shoulder problems. At the Sports Injury Clinic, Prince of Wales Hospital, shoulder problems were encountered in 17% among about 1,580 attendances in the last 3 years.
